It’s been a while since I’ve done a T5W but I am completely buzzing for Spring! Spring is my favourite season, gone are the gloomy dark mornings and you are encouraged to eat chocolate eggs, need I say more!
This T5W is about Spring reads that I am absolutely excited to get to. A disclaimer that in the last month I have fallen down a Victorian era hole and can’t seem to get out of it!
Beastly Bones – William Ritter

Aw man I can’t explain how much I loved Jackaby. It’s kind of like a Sherlock Holmes but with supernatural elements. Jackaby is the bluntest character, if I knew him in real life I probably would hate him but my word he’s hilarious to read from!
Lycans and Legends – Melanie Karsak

I have flew through the first five books of this series in 7 days. 7 days! I normally hate marathoning series but I am in love with this world. It’s steam punk set in Victorian London with Red Riding hood as a badass supernatural agent. I’ve read 11 of Karsak’s books in the last 3 months and I can’t get enough!
The Binding – Bridget Collins

This just sounds so interesting! A librarian who can bind up both good and bad memories in books, sign me up. I’m so thankful the library has it as I’m still on my book buying ban.
The Watchmakers Daughter – C J Archer

I’m looking for my next badass lady in Victorian era fix and I hope this is it! India is lost without her father and finds employment with a man whose watch rejuvenates him when he is ill . . .Sold! This also fits with me wanting to read more indie books *YAY goals*.
Foundryside – Robert Jackson Bennett

I am so excited to get to this, I’ve held off on the book because it’s been so long since I’ve read a big’in. The magic system though sounds amazing! You write runes on something and it things it’s properties have changed, I’m in to it!
What books are you looking forward to reading? Have you fell into any genre rabbit holes lately?
The Jackaby series is great!

I hope it’s all as great as the first one. Does it get better with each book?

Funny you mention the binding. I didn’t put in my list but I do have an arc of it that I’m going to review. I think it is flying under the radar but will surprise a lot of people. It sounds really good.

yessssss it makes me so happy that you’re continuing with Jackaby! I’ve heard mixed reviews of The Binding and haven’t heard much at all about the others on your list, so I’ll have to check them out.
I’m terrible about keeping track of release dates, but I’m super excited to finally read my ARC of The Bride Test (autism and Asian-American rep, yes please) and Natalie Tan’s Book of Luck and Fortune, as well as Finale, the last Caraval book! right now I seem to be pingpong-ing between contemporary with good rep (particularly Asian/Asian-American and LGBTQ+) and fantasy – kind of opposite ends of the reading spectrum, but well. it works for me 😅

I have the second book from the library now so it is happening! I really want to get to The Binding I hope I love it.
I’m in such a Victorian niche atm I need to expand so I don’t ruin it for myself. I agree with having different genres of reading, it’s great to have opposites! I love anything with autism rep because I work in that area so I’ll definitely check it out!

I don’t think that’ll happen anytime soon. 🙈🙈 It hasn’t released here yet and there’s only a hardcover available for purchase online but it’s imported by a third-party seller and the price is just outrageous. I could buy like 5 paperbacks for that price. 🙈 Just have to wait..

This post just reminded me that I need to finish the Jackaby series. Hope we both get to those books.

We can motivate each other! I’m so glad it’s a short enough series makes it seem more manageable.

All the Jackaby series has that beautiful cover art!
The rest of the books in the series are as awesome as Lycans and Legends and they are short enough but yeah it’s a lot of commitment!
