Book Slump Feels

Book Slump Feels

Hey guys! I am currently in one of the biggest book slumps I have ever been in. I can’t finish or focus on a book no matter how interesting it is!

Ever reader knows this heartbreak. It feels like a breakup but much worse because you see books everywhere. In the shops. On your phone. In your room staring at you longingly. But you just can’t read it.

You tell your books, ‘it’s not you it’s me’ but what next? How do you fill the void in your heart?

I have tried to fulfil the void with many different things:

Netflix

The standard distraction from a book slump or what can be the cause. I am an all or nothing person when it comes to TV. I’ll either watch the whole series in one go or not watch TV for weeks. I’ve just finished the Ted Bundy Tapes documentary and it was terrifying. Although if I hear ‘it can’t be him he’s handsome’ one more time I won’t be able to deal!

Roller Skating

I’ve neglected my roller skates for so long I’ve practically forgot how to stand up in them. I went skating with my friends and it was just so fun and completely distressed me.

Cross-Stitch

Ye I am that 26 going on 70 person who cross-stitches! It’s relaxing and there are so many amazing patterns. From subversive to Disney, I have been lost in that cross-stitch Pinterest rabbit hole. I just finished a project with Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared. It is so dang creepy!

Video Games

This is where all my time has went! I’ve played so many games trying to find my type. I’d highly recommend Escape Cube Paradox, the story is amazing and the puzzles are fun to work out. I’ve also been loving Spyro and Bit Trip Runner 2. Let me know if you would be interested in more talk about games on the blog!

That’s pretty much all I’ve been doing during my slump. Hopefully I pick up a book soon but until then I guess I’ll have to game!

What do you do when you are in a book slump?

oof book slumps are a struggle and a half 😕 but yay for spending time with other things that make you happy, it certainly sounds like you had a good time even if they didn’t fix the slump!

I’ve been meaning to get back into swimming and maybe barre/dance, partially for general health and partially just because it’s fun 😊 I also haven’t written any original stories/fic or caught up on any of my shows in forever – so thank you for a pretty timely reminder to switch up my routine! 💕

When i’m in a book slump I either find a new way to read the book (annotating, see how much time i take to read a chapter, if its ebook i put text to speech” etc.) or just switch to my other hobbies until i feel like reading again

I’m like you with Netflix – I’ll watch the entire series or not watch TV, although I think the latter happens more often than not. I haven’t gotten around to watching the Ted Bundy Tapes, though, but I don’t think I want to either. Sometimes I choose to do nothing as well, though, even if I do feel bad for doing so.

Hope you’ll climb out of that slump soon! ❤

It happens to the best of us! Maybe try rereading favourite books? Sometimes that helps a lot. I am glad you have some other hobbies and things to fill the void though. I used to cross-stitch a lot. And you totally just gave me a nostalgia throwback!

If time and circumstances permit can you get the audio version through your library or Audible? I love how you are using your time though and I bet the feeling to read again with come flooding back.

I am also suffering from a terrible slump of horror; last month I didn’t touch a book for 21 days and I am still mostly struggling. I think right now it’s mostly a mental health thing, but I just succumb to the slump and play video games instead. Hope you get to reading again soon!

Aaaah cross stitching, I mean my mum converted my dragon graphic into a cross stitch pattern and so I plan on stitching him at some point this year hahaha, when I find some spare time xD When I’m in a slump I tend to write, throw myself into blogging…watch TV.

Videogames is my go-to aswell ! but i’ll go for “endless” ones like Sims, Stardew Valley, etc.. Of course i’d love to see more of that on your blog, if youd be willing to write them!
